IOL COUNSELOR™ LOG-IN UPGRADE NOW AVAILABLE

A number of our IOL Counselor™ users have requested the ability to allow anyone who logs onto a
computer containing the IOL Counselor™ access to the program without setting-up special user 
names and passwords. This feature is now available with the attached IOL Counselor™ Log-in Upgrade.
The original IOL Counselor™ program installation required being logged-in with the user name and 
password of the person who would be accessing the program.  If more than one person needed to 
use the IOL Counselor™ on the same computer, you were required to either install the program 
multiple times under the individual user names and passwords, or you had to set up a unique user 
name and password for all users to access the IOL Counselor™ program.  The Login-In Upgrade makes 
multiple user access easier by allowing anyone, regardless of their user name and password, to access 
the IOL Counselor™ program.

IOL COUNSELOR™ HUGE SUCCESS AT THE 2007ASCRS/ASOA MEETING IN SAN DIEGO
From the moment the taxis left the San Diego airport, the IOL Counselor™ started making favorable impressions on all attendees. Over 180 banners, extending along Harbor Drive to Seaport Village, welcomed ASCRS members to San Diego and announced the launch of the jointly produced IOL Counselor™ software. The Patient Education Concepts booth was constantly packed with attendees, eager to see the highly acclaimed IOL Counselor™ software. Designed to increase patient conversion from monofocal IOLs to presbyopia correcting IOLs, the software was featured on the cover of the March issue of EyeWorld Magazine and distributed to approximately 5,000 US based ASCRS members through an education grant from Alcon Laboratories, Inc. and Advanced Medical Optics, Inc. PEC also introduced ancillary products for the IOL Counselor including a website version of the IOL Counselor, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and German language downloads posters, DVDs, and CD Videos. The IOL Counselor was featured in numerous EyeWorld Educational Symposium throughout the meeting including the lead off ASCRS Foundation Symposium, “The Fundamentals of a Presbyopia-Correcting IOL Practice."? Other EyeWorld Symposium describing the role of the IOL Counselor included, “Developing Successful Refractive Lenticular Strategies"?, “Presbyopia-Correcting IOLs – Practical Pearls"? and “Presbyopic IOLs: Securing the Patient & Selecting the Treatment"?.

BETA SITES REPORT DRAMATIC INCREASE IN CONVERSION RATE WITH IOL COUNSELOR™
Beta testing of the IOL Counselor began in November, 2006. The participants included: Lehmann Eye Center (Nacogdoches), Mann Eye Center (Houston), Pepose Vision Institute (St. Louis), Kirk Eye Center (Chicago), Cincinnati Eye Institute (Cincinnati), and Carolina Vision center (Fayetteville). Pepose Vision Institute led the way moving from an average of 30% of their patients choosing a presbyopia correcting IOL over the three previous months to an average of 50% choosing the premium IOLs after they started using the IOL Counselor. In December they reported a high of over 80% conversion. Some practices increased from 5% to 33% while others increased from 30% to 60%. Overall, everyone was extremely pleased at how patients instantly understood their IOL options and the affordability of premium IOLs through CareCredit’s financing plans.
